Jan Žižka (c. 1360-1424) was a legendary Czech military leader, a Hussite commander and national hero famous for never losing a battle, even after becoming completely blind, against forces of the Holy Roman Empire during the Hussite Wars. He revolutionized warfare by effectively using mobile war wagons (tafirs), cannons, and integrating infantry, cavalry, and artillery into unified tactics, transforming peasant militias into an unstoppable force. |
